The Courier is responsible for the safe travel of the items to and from the Exhibition, the pre-condition of the objects and their resulting condition post exhibit. She oversees the packing, unpacking and installation of the exhibit.

She documents the object’s condition using forms and photographs; the object sometimes needs treatment to stabilize it for the exhibit. For insurance purposes this documentation travels with the objects and is signed off by the exhibiting institution, both at the beginning and end of the exhibit. Supports, matting and framing are created to protect the objects for the duration of the exhibit. The Courier monitors and suggests light, temperature and humidity levels in the exhibiting institution appropriate for each material and media.
